Instagram Guide for Black & White Feed

Craving for Black and White feed on Instagram? You’re simply on the right page!

Since I have received tons of request for photo editing guide after “VSCO Filters that Fashions Bloggers Use on Instagram” has been the most hit blog-post for the last few months until now, I decided to create one instagram account for your instation (Instagram Inspiration)!

Black and white are people’s favorite monochrome colors. Until I once heard a phrase saying, “I will stop wearing black until I see darker color”.

That sounds legit.

Alright, without any pleonastic intros, I divided 3 simple steps to help you achieving the perfect instagram feed that you’ve been yearning for!

STEP 1

Go outside, take pictures, collect moments and sift the best ones. The first photo editor I always (until it has become an obligation) use is Snapseed. For an example, I will edit a picture of coffee that I took a few weeks ago.

1 (1)

I usually adjust the brightness, contrast, ambience, highlights and shadows with this photo editor because it gives the best of the best resolution of the picture you want to edit. And that’s why I love to use this app so much!

STEP 2

When you’ve got your own perfect resolution, you better move to VSCOCAM. I am definitely sure that everyone is already familiar with this app.

2 (2)

For B&W feed, I prefer to use B5 filter because the color of black in this filter looks very dense. B5 is a free filter by VSCOCAM, thus you can download it anytime you want. Besides that, I usually adjust the strength of filter to +8 for maximum or +5 for minimum. And also, add a little touch of fade effect for approximately +3 or +2 if you want to lower the contrast.

STEP 3

One more step for photo editing. The last photo editor that I use is Afterlight. If you want to give a little touch of frame around your picture, you may add it for approximately +35.

3 (3)

For the shape of its frame is definitely up to you. You can use round, hexagonal, triangle or anything. I prefer square because I want to accentuate more the essence of the picture not the art of the picture itself.

STEP 4

People usually post quotes to express what they’re feeling at the moment, but to me, not really. I use quotes to intensify the aesthetic touch for my instagram feed. Thus, I usually keep several quotes on my phone before uploading it.

4 (4)

After the picture has been perfectly edited, now it’s time for you to adjust your instagram feed. I wanted to create a chess feed, and I finally found the pattern for this feed, :

with frame + no frame + with frame + no frame + quote + no frame + with frame + no frame + with frame

But however, you can imagine it by yourself for your own perfect feed. And this is how mine looks like,

Voila! Interested enough to do the following guides? If you are, you can get yourself updated with the latest instagram feed on @lefleurenoire because I will update more new filters with different aesthetics for your instation! 🙂

How To Make Scrapbook With Recycled Paper

As I’ve promised on 3 Fun Things I Do When I’m Bored ‘s post that I would post how I did my scrapbook with recycled paper where you don’t need to buy new papers and stuff, you only need old newspapers which are left out in your garage.

At first I didn’t mean to make a scrapbook at all, I even had no idea and didn’t know why that I actually made it eventually. I got a task from my Art teacher at school to make a recycled paper. I was really not into it at first because it wasn’t my thing at all (and still not, I guess because I’m a consumptive person eh?). But however I had to finish this work with my group.

I’m not gonna explain how to make recycled paper, because the needed stuff seems complicated and I’m pretty sure, 75% of people would rather buy recycled papers at Scrapbook Store instead of making it themselves. And here are things you need to make your own fancy scrapbook :

needed stuff

  • Notebook
  • Recycled Paper
  • Glue (I used glue for wood because it sticks better than paper glue)
  • Scissor
  • Random Buttons
  • Any other stuff you may think it’s cute for your scrapbook

HOW TO :

  1. Take the hard cover off of the book. It’s either the front or the back page.

  2. Glue the hard cover with recycled paper neatly.

    cr2

  3. Pierce the covered hard cover holes with scissor/knife or anything you think it’s sharp to use.

    cr3

  4. And your current scrapbook looks like mine so far

    cr4

  5. Now, it’s time to spice up your masterpiece. I made “Okay? Okay” sign for my scrapbook’s back page. And I used ice cream sticks for short quotes, letters from magazine, buttons and lace that I got from my button’s case as bonus. Use your creativity to make the most fancy scrapbook evah!

These are things I need for front cover,

And viola, this is how my front page looks like,

  6. The scrapbook is done, BUT it still doesn’t look like a scrapbook to me. Let’s make a cover for it. Use duplex carton for its cover, adjust the size with your own scrapbook.

    cr6

  7. After that, cover the duplex carton with another carton or paper. It’s for the inside of scrapbook cover, so it won’t look messy. If you’ve finished covering the duplex carton, reverse the other side of duplex carton and cover it with recycled paper. If you’re running out of recycled paper, you can use carton/paper/fabric/etc.

  8. Back to your notebook, twine the notebook ring from the top to the bottom of notebook with scrapbook rope (I don’t know what it is called exactly but I found this rope in Scrapbook Store).

Do not tie the rope, take the scrapbook cover you’ve pierced, put the rope in the hole and twine the scrapbook cover like you did to your notebook.

  9. Voila! It’s done! You can do anything you want with your scrapbook cover. And this is how my scrapbook looks like,

So, that was how I made my scrapbook and I hope you’re inspired to do the same. It’s really fun to do. Take some pictures, print ’em out and stick ’em on your scrapbook. Have a great weekend! 🙂
