VLOG | Brunch at Common Grounds

Hello, Loves! Back to another weekend of September and I am so glad that I just finished with the Model United Nations conference. It went great and I spent for almost 5 days working in the conference discussing about the most neglected humanitarian crisis in the world at Lake Chad Basin and human capital crisis in African States. I was representing Libya and it was stressful yet fun!

This time I will be showing you one of my favorite places to have brunch at. They are renowned by serving the best of the best Western brunch like Eggs Benedict. But this time, I will be showing another menu of them. One of the dishes I ordered was Salted Caramel Pancake.

Look at the perfect plating and the caramelized banana in there, perfectly made with love. Oh, stop drooling over there. Instead of writing and spending too many words, let me make you drooling over some other dishes by checking this vlog out. Enjoy!

What do you think? I really love the foods they have in there, the vibes of the cafe is amazing but it would be much more amazing if it ain’t located in the mall however the foods they have there are really worth to taste.

That’s all I have for this weekend, I hope you like it and thanks for watching! Have a great weekend x

KADO, Hidden Japanese Restaurant in South Jakarta

Japanese restaurant. Salmon sashimi. Sushi. Dayum!

I think I just found myself drooling over the dishes I just mentioned. Ah, I am so hungry!

Enough with the intro, this time I am going to bring you to the hidden gem I found in South Jakarta. It’s actually a quiet popular restaurant but also a very unknown to be found because of its hidden location in Ayana Hotel Jakarta. The place is very popular to be visited by real Japanese, so when you come, you somehow will feel the real ambience of Japan because of its surroundings.

Now enough with the environment chit-chats, let’s get started with the dishes. Yee-ha!

This might look small but the bowl is actually really big. Very excellent for the hungry ones, just like me! The first dish to be reviewed will be Chicken Katsu Don.

Excellent plating. Tasty smells. Very amazing for the visual look. At the first bite, your tongue will be served with tasty sweet rice along with the cut onions. This deep fried chicken cutlet on top of rice tasted quiet sweet because it was also contained with soy sauce I believe (I am not a food expert but this is what exactly it tasted like). It costed for 75 IDR and I would say it is worth it for the hungry because I couldn’t even be able to finish it.

The second dish to be reviewed would be Gyu Stamina Don. I was wondering why the name is Stamina, so I asked the waitress then I got the answer! She said because it was also served with fresh egg yolk so that’s why the name is Stamina. Hmm now I see. This grilled beef on top of garlic tasted not so far like Yakiniku I guess. It tasted great, and I believe you would get stuffed easier because it contained a lot of protein. It costed for 88 IDR. That’s why I got salad in hand too.

Just like the Japanese culture, ocha shimasho (Let’s do tea, or take a break over something to drink). A hot tea has always been great for the companion of Japanese foods. Therefore, ocha no jikan (time for tea)!

So, that’s all! I hope you find this review helpful to get to know more about this hidden gem in Ayana. Interested to try this one too? What’s your favorite Japanese food? Share what you like in the comment box below. Thanks for reading and have a great weekend, loves!😊

Easy Homemade Cupcake Recipe

Semester break has influenced me to have a knack on cooking since I have no idea what to do besides managing two events, reading novels, listening to fifty shades music, and feeding rabbits. Boring? Not really but half of me said yes it really is.

It’s one week away to college and I decided to spend my last Monday afternoon of semester break in the kitchen making cupcakes with Mom! I found this easy recipe and I believe you can do this at home by preparing these super easy ingredients,

2 cups of flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoons of baking powder
2 eggs
1 cup of milk
1/2 cup of melted butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
3/4 cup of sugar

Step 1. Mix all the ingredients into a large bowl in high speed except the melted butter for 5 minutes. Then add the melted butter, stir it in slow speed.

Step 2. Preheat oven to 375f or 190c. Prepare the cupcake papers (oily in the inside is highly suggested to avoid sticky result) and put them in the cupcake moulds.

Step 3. Bake the cupcakes and get ready with the icing. Make sure you have these,

2 cups of butter
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of condensed milk
Crushed oreo
1 egg (set aside the yolk)

For the icing, you only need to stir it until soft and looks white. However for the icing, it’s up on your creativity. You may add M&Ms, chocolate chips, etc.

And this is how my cupcakes look like,

Summerbird (Bed and Brasserie): Was I Impressed?

Hello, Guys! Who likes to stroll around the city and look for new places? If you do, I have this one coming up for you!

Basically, this is the first post of “Odysseia” where I will start reviewing hidden gems in the cities or even countries I visit. Can I say yay to that for the very first post?

I was introduced by my friend to have a visit to this Bed and Brasserie located in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. I was welcomed with vintagely cute interior. From that perspective, I might say that this place is better for youth.

The staffs are really nice and understanding which made me feel comfortable to stay longer for small talk with friends and photos indeed.

I ordered two coffees, a lattè and a cappuccino. I was expecting for some artsy foam on top but nope, just a cup of coffee. I didn’t order much since I was quite stuffed, I only ordered one mixed platter which has sausage, calamary, wedges, and onion rings in it. It tasted fine but a bit tasteless to me. More spices would be great.

SummerBird also has hotel in the upstairs with various rates. I didn’t stay but I loved to see the corridor with the vines which gave the homey look because they don’t have 20 rooms or above like hotels you always notice in general.

The tables for its cafe are not only downstairs but they are also available in upstairs along with the rooms. The vintage look of its cafe made me feel want to stay longer for another sip of coffee but unfortunately, the foods I ordered was fine but not outstanding.

To sum it up, here’s what I think about Summer Bird for my first impression.

Ambience (9 out of 10)
Food and Beverage (8 out of 10)
Service (9.5 out of 10)

Impression (8.8 out of 10)

Have you ever been here or interested enough to visit? Share what you think through the comment below. I will also do another reviews for Odysseia. I can’t wait to do it further! Thanks for reading ❤

Reviving Summer with Tsaibucha

Summer is almost in the edge of cliff! But you can still revive it with this new invention of tea by Tsaibucha. Since I was introduced to it, I think I just found a new drink which is much better than smoothie and also, healthier!

The atmosphere of summer never fails anyone to have fresh drinks. And this fermented tea just hit the nail on the head!

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

The first time I heard the name of Tsaibucha was pretty odd to me but I was enlightened that there’s a meaning behind its name. Just like your name. Tsai means tea in Greek but also means cool in Chinese. And Bucha refers to Kombucha which is kind of fermented tea.

And that’s what I like from Tsaibucha, the most unique tea I’ve ever tasted. It tasted acidly sweet, not far from the taste of wine. The uniqueness of Tsaibucha itself is, they never add any artificial ingredients and always let the biotechnology work for it.

I used to spend my whole weekend reading magazine and any other books with any kind of beverages and tea wasn’t even on the list. Since I was introduced to it, now I prefer to have Tsaibucha for my drink in the weekend. And also, I can take it anywhere I want to,

Last but not least, how do I get it? Tsaibucha can only be purchased online. It doesn’t cost a leg and an arm, very much worthy for a bottle of Tsaibucha. You can have it for 1.5 USD or 20 IDR. Get yourself a bottle of Tsaibucha and let it revive you! Have a great weekend!

Get On Diet With Vanilla Ice Cream

This diet method lets you eat Vanilla Ice Cream. Isn’t that bizarre? This diet is totally different than the others, it only needs 3 days to lose around 10 pounds. Because of that, I wanted to give it a try.

Day 1
I started day one on Tuesday. I bought some foods I needed for the next 3 days because I was actually running out of food in the fridge, ouch how sad. You need a total preparation before you do this diet.

  • Breakfast
    1/2 grapefruit
    1 slice of toast
    2 tbspn of peanut butter
1 cup of coffee (with caffeine) or teaProcessed with VSCOcam with f2 presetHow I did it :
I didn’t have grapefruit, so I substituted grapefruit by putting 1/2 tsp of baking soda in a glass of water
    What I felt :
2 tbspn of peanut butter but I only had 1 slice of toast. I started feeling nauseated before I had tasted it but actually it felt okay at first but then I felt queasy in the last bite. After I had spent the peanut butter and toast, I drank a glass of baking soda and I felt more queasy than ever. I like peanut butter but not that much.
  • Lunch
    1/2 cup of tuna
1 slice of bread or toast
1 cup of coffee (with caffeine) or teaProcessed with VSCOcam with f2 presetHow I did it :
I substituted tuna with chicken. I added a little bit of spices like pepper and salt in it. Very little. I couldn’t eat plain chicken for God’s sake.
    What I felt :
I started enjoying this diet. Though two hours after meal I had felt hungry, I couldn’t get some snacks and eat and smile. I had to wait for dinner.
  • Dinner
3 ounces of any meat (same size as deck of cards)
    1 cup of green beans
    1 small apple
    1/2 banana
1 cup of vanilla ice creamProcessed with VSCOcam with f2 preset How I did it :
Meat that I ate was chicken, I didn’t eat 3 ounces of chicken, that was quite too much for me. And I only ate 3 green beans, I don’t know if that was the same as 1 cup of green beans but I only ate 3. I also substituted small apple with pears. I had a quite big pear and I only ate half of it.
    What I felt :
Dinner is my favorite in military diet because I could eat ice cream. I felt hungry at 9 above, I used to eat whatever I wanted whenever I felt hungry but this time, I had to control my lust on foods.

Day 2
I woke up at 7 and went to the kitchen immediately. I know that we technically have to wait at least two hours before breakfast, but I didn’t mind, I cooked for my lovely belly. But you know what? I successfully lost 2 pounds from Day 1! Let’s see what would happen in Day 2.

  • Breakfast
1 slice of bread or toast
1 egg cooked (however you like)
1/2 bananaProcessed with VSCOcam with f2 presetHow I did it :
I made omelette because I hate sunny side up egg. I accidentally added too much butter, so the omelette looks oily in the pic above. But I left it for a couple of minutes and wrapped the omelette with tissues to get the oil absorbed.
    What I felt :
    That was enough for breakfast.
  • Lunch
    1 cup of cottage cheese
    1 hard boiled egg
5 saltine crackersProcessed with VSCOcam with f2 presetHow I did it :
I went out that day, so I put the meal into a food container. I substituted cottage cheese with 1 slice of cheddar cheese. I didn’t find saltine crackers but I found a cracker which has 9 calories. All you need to know is, each saltine cracker has 13 calories.
    What I felt :
It was good but I’m not satisfied. People who are on diet will never be satisfied, will they?
  • Dinner
2 hot dogs (with no bun)
    1 cup of brocolli
    1/2 cup of carrots
    1/2 banana
1/2 cup of vanilla ice creamProcessed with VSCOcam with f2 presetHow I did it :
I kinda cheated in the afternoon. My mother brought me meatballs and I ate 3 because I was tempted. And I also had no hot dog that time, I completely forgot about hot dog. So, I think it was fine and I became a vegen by substituting hot dogs with a cup of green beans.
    What I felt :
    It tasted so vegetable.

Day 3
I lost 2 pounds from day 2. It was the same as I had lost from day 1. I had known this from the start, I wouldn’t lose weight up to 10 pounds, maybe 6 pounds or less. But however, I had been doing it for 2 days and I only needed one more day to finish.

  • Breakfast
    1 slice of cheddar
    5 saltine crackers
1 small appleProcessed with VSCOcam with f2 presetHow I did it :
I substituted small apple with grapes though I substituted it with pear on day 1. Color up your life, guys. Don’t get stuck on the same menu.
    What I felt :
    It was okay.
  • Lunch
1 slice of bread or toast
1 egg (cooked or however you like)Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetHow I did it :
I made scrambled egg because I had made omelette and hard boiled egg in the past 2 days. I also added a little bit of spices too like pepper and salt. I can’t live without seasoning.
    What I felt :
    It was delicious.
  • Dinner
    1 cup of tuna
    1/2 banana
1 cup of vanilla ice creamProcessed with VSCOcam with f2 presetHow I did it :
I substituted tuna with chicken like I did on day 1. I also ran out of vanilla ice cream, so I added strawberry ice cream in it.
    What I felt :
It was delicious because I met vanilla ice cream.

This diet method is well-known as military diet and that’s how I did my military diet. It was kinda bad in the first day, especially in the breakfast menu. But day by day, especially on day 2, I started getting used to it. In day 4, I’ve successfully lost 5 pounds. But however, I have to do this continuity to lose more weight. You can do this every week with 4 days off each week. It’s all about habit, I liked having snacks and eating sweet foods but as you can see in the military diet menu, they have less sweet and salty foods. And I think that’s why they let you eat vanilla ice cream at night because human’s body needs sugar. And brain can’t work entirely without sugar, people who don’t consume sugar, they tend to feel tired when they think.

If you need any questions, feel free to comment below. Good luck with your diet, have a great day 🙂
