KADO, Hidden Japanese Restaurant in South Jakarta

Japanese restaurant. Salmon sashimi. Sushi. Dayum!

I think I just found myself drooling over the dishes I just mentioned. Ah, I am so hungry!

Enough with the intro, this time I am going to bring you to the hidden gem I found in South Jakarta. It’s actually a quiet popular restaurant but also a very unknown to be found because of its hidden location in Ayana Hotel Jakarta. The place is very popular to be visited by real Japanese, so when you come, you somehow will feel the real ambience of Japan because of its surroundings.

Now enough with the environment chit-chats, let’s get started with the dishes. Yee-ha!

This might look small but the bowl is actually really big. Very excellent for the hungry ones, just like me! The first dish to be reviewed will be Chicken Katsu Don.

Excellent plating. Tasty smells. Very amazing for the visual look. At the first bite, your tongue will be served with tasty sweet rice along with the cut onions. This deep fried chicken cutlet on top of rice tasted quiet sweet because it was also contained with soy sauce I believe (I am not a food expert but this is what exactly it tasted like). It costed for 75 IDR and I would say it is worth it for the hungry because I couldn’t even be able to finish it.

The second dish to be reviewed would be Gyu Stamina Don. I was wondering why the name is Stamina, so I asked the waitress then I got the answer! She said because it was also served with fresh egg yolk so that’s why the name is Stamina. Hmm now I see. This grilled beef on top of garlic tasted not so far like Yakiniku I guess. It tasted great, and I believe you would get stuffed easier because it contained a lot of protein. It costed for 88 IDR. That’s why I got salad in hand too.

Just like the Japanese culture, ocha shimasho (Let’s do tea, or take a break over something to drink). A hot tea has always been great for the companion of Japanese foods. Therefore, ocha no jikan (time for tea)!

My Reaction After Eating Salted Egg for the FIRST TIME

Salted Egg. I don’t know why people are so addicted to this kind of food lately. Are they just going into trend or is it just really tasty?

But before going farther, I wanted to tell you that I loathe Salted Egg and over medium sunny side up that much.

But I strived my disgust and decided to give it a try in one of my favorite cafes, The People’s since I heard that their Salted Egg Chicken is one of their favorites.

Not only that, I suddenly had the urge to taste their Salted Beverage because I wanted it to be all or nothing but “Oh Gosh, what am I doing?”.

I ordered for Salted Caramel Chocolate. Now you can see how intrigued yet almost fearlessly disgusted I was with the Salted Food and Beverage. I was on my own and I thought I did not need to be that careful with my orders. So, go for it boss!

I got Sunny Side Up as requested though I could have got it scrambled. I wish I had the scrambled. However I finally got it on my table!

As I slowly opened up my mouth and let a spoon of Salted Egg Chicken slid into my mouth. Honestly. I think I started to love salted eggs. It tasted fine and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the slightly runny yolk all over my bowl. It did not even smell like the odor of sulfur or something that will make you want to do something “you-know-what”. The taste is fine and it could keep me full for 5 hours without snacks. I prefer to have it with chili sauce instead of soy sauce to keep me survive and alive.

And here is the weird yet interesting one, Salted Caramel Chocolate. I just thought it was weird to have the adjective word “Salted” in the name of a beverage and why would they add caramel popcorns on top anyway? This is just really confusing. I took a sip and it did not even taste salty I guess however I still loved it. It tasted more like chocolate milkshake to me.

After having those meals sliding into my stomach through my intestines and having me-time for half of the day, I would say that Salted Egg is not that bad and I thought I would give it another try in another cafe. Any recommendations? and have you ever tasted Salted Egg before? If yes, tell me your experience in the comment box! 😀

Have a great weekend, guys!

Easy Homemade Cupcake Recipe

Semester break has influenced me to have a knack on cooking since I have no idea what to do besides managing two events, reading novels, listening to fifty shades music, and feeding rabbits. Boring? Not really but half of me said yes it really is.

It’s one week away to college and I decided to spend my last Monday afternoon of semester break in the kitchen making cupcakes with Mom! I found this easy recipe and I believe you can do this at home by preparing these super easy ingredients,

2 cups of flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoons of baking powder
2 eggs
1 cup of milk
1/2 cup of melted butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
3/4 cup of sugar

Step 1. Mix all the ingredients into a large bowl in high speed except the melted butter for 5 minutes. Then add the melted butter, stir it in slow speed.

Step 2. Preheat oven to 375f or 190c. Prepare the cupcake papers (oily in the inside is highly suggested to avoid sticky result) and put them in the cupcake moulds.

Step 3. Bake the cupcakes and get ready with the icing. Make sure you have these,

2 cups of butter
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of condensed milk
Crushed oreo
1 egg (set aside the yolk)

For the icing, you only need to stir it until soft and looks white. However for the icing, it’s up on your creativity. You may add M&Ms, chocolate chips, etc.

And this is how my cupcakes look like,

Processed with VSCO with lv01 preset

These sweet treats are such a good companion for reading. After seeing these, are you interested to make your own cupcakes? Let me know what you think on the comment box below and you may share the result on Instagram by tagging me 🙂

Hope it can inspire you, have a great cooking day!
