Simple Candy Cake Bar Recipe

Hello! Glad to be back on blogging after the myriad days of war in achieving my bachelor degree. I’m basically having my third semester break right now. However, it’s enough for the highlight of author’s diary because I got something new for you, guys ❤

Do you like to watch cooking tutorial on Instagram? Do you like to follow the steps and do it in your own kitchen? If you do, we are probably twins!

Actually I just followed a one minute cooking tutorial on Instagram, “Candy Cake Bar”. The ingredients are not really specific since they only say ‘a cup of something’ rather than saying it in grams or spoons and the video tutorial is too fast until I had to watch it over and over again. But if you are a cook master, then it won’t be trouble for you. So, I was just predicting the measure but I surely will tell you the specific ingredients to make your cooking experience easier. Before you get started, you better prepare these ingredients below.

1 pack of M&M’s (may be substituted)
1 pack of KitKat (may be substituted)
200 grams of crystal sugar
200 grams of brown sugar
300 grams of flour
1 tablespoon of vanilla
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 eggs
225 grams of melted butter

If those things above are ready, you may start with the first step!

Step 1. Pour 1 cup of crystal sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar into a large bowl. Stir it then add 1 cup of melted butter. Don’t pour it when the butter is still hot, let it chill for approximately 5 minutes.

Step 2. Add 2 eggs into the mixed bowl. You better don’t use refrigerated eggs. Stir it until the dough looks brightly yellow. I recommend you to use mixer or you will get tired of stirring it to death.

Step 3. Add 1 tablespoon of vanilla and 1/2 teaspoon of salt into the mixed bowl. Keep stirring it then add 2 cups of bowl. Don’t get tired, keep stirring it until the texture looks a bit solid.

Step 4. This is my favorite part. Before everything else but it is up to you whether you want to chop the KitKats later or in the last part, chop the KitKats and spread the candies over the dough. Stir it.

Step 5. Heat the microwave until 350°F / 175°C and bake it for 45 – 50 minutes.

Step 6. Let it chill because if you try to chop it when it’s hot, it is really sticky which could ruin your artsy cake bar. And this is the result,

My kitchen was completely a mess and my hand was full of dough so I couldn’t take a picture of the steps but I am an open-book, if you have questions regarding this recipe, you may comment or email me and I’ll reply right away. This cake bar tastes like caramelized cake because it contains sugar and candies hence the dough becomes sticky. I like to eat it with a hot cup of tea or pure milk as a friend for my reading time in the balcony. Interested to cook it too? It is really easy and it is highly recommended to fill your lovely weekend with your loved ones. Have a great day! ❤
